Jacqueline Janssen
A third generation woman entrepreneur, Jacqueline Janssen co-founded her first company, an organic luncheon delivery service, at the age of 22.
At the cusp of the digital revolution when the personal computing industry was just beginning to find its market Jacqueline co-founded her second business, an office supply telemarketing firm that specialized in selling Memorex supplies for computers nationally. Employing University of California college students, she and her partner also helped many graduate through providing tuition and books. The business found an eager marketplace and loyal customers, growing to become the fourth largest employer in Santa Cruz County.
Selling that business, Jacqueline and partners opened one of the earliest women owned Apple Computer dealerships. The store was a pioneer in offering computer training classes for personal users. Jacqueline was asked to speak at the first symposium for Women in Business in Santa Cruz and soon owners of small and start-up businesses asked for her help. Focusing on building business success through organizational and employee development, for nearly 25 years Jacqueline served as managing principal of Janssen and Associates. Providing human resource consulting and executive recruiting services, her firm expanded to serve global organizations including IBM, AstraZeneca, and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. With success allowing her the time, Jacqueline turned her support of others in their growth and education, to finishing her own degree at the University of California Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Letters and Science in Rhetoric.
A new outlook, additional skills and a commitment to education and health, led her to volunteer on a nonprofit Board and work with the County of Marin to set new policy for families. Inspired by the difference a few people could make for communities, Jacqueline joined the staff at the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership of Marin. As Director of Transition Services, Jacqueline provides professional recruiting services for nonprofit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Jacqueline Janssen has long been motivated by a desire for people to reach their full potential and believes that it is most easily accomplished through healthy families and community. Having suffered the loss of her parents at an early age, Jacqueline was inspired to create LeaveLight to ease the difficult burdens of loss, and help us enjoy each other and each day as perfect and sacred.
