About Us
We developed LeaveLight over a three-year period of collaboration. What started out as forms for documenting important data to lessen the load on those left behind evolved into both a practical and spiritual tool to prepare for end-of-life.
As we considered what kept us from finishing our end-of-life plans, we realized that our fears related to death were holding us back. We came to understand that dealing with those fears is a key to completing end-of-life planning.
Most importantly, working together, we realized the value of mutual support and the need for people to gather together in community to talk about their fears and concerns about death and leaving their loved ones behind.
We saw the need for facilitated LeaveLight Circles. We were amazed by the large number of individuals who responded to our call for Facilitators. That along with the current nation-wide dialogue about end-of-life planning and the fact that 79 million baby boomers are facing end-of-life issues, made us realize the great need for both intimate and public conversations to dispel the myths and fears about death and dying.
We are heartened and deeply moved by the initial LeaveLight Facilitators. They are committed to reducing the suffering of families experiencing the trauma of losing a loved one. These Facilitators are pioneers in our effort to bring back an awareness of the natural cycle of life into the mainstream.
Our commitment is to support them and others in opening a conversation about end-of-life. With the acceptance that death is a very real part of life, space opens up to savor each moment as if it were the last.
